Importing a PowerPoint or Keynote Presentation

Many of our users have asked how to import existing PowerPoint presentations into Haiku Deck. While there's not a built-in way to do that in Haiku Deck, you can export or save your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation as images, and then import those images as slide backgrounds to build a new Haiku Deck from the slides.

From PowerPoint:

  1. With your presentation open in PowerPoint, click FILE on the menu bar at the top of the screen, and choose SAVE AS...
  2. Choose JPEG from the drop-down. This will save your slides as a series of images. Make sure you save them to a folder that's easy to access, or to Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar online service for easy access from Haiku Deck later.
  3. In Haiku Deck, start a new deck or start to edit an existing deck.
  4. Import the images as slide backgrounds. You can even import all of the slides at once from the iPad app. If you're using the iPad app, you may need to email the photos to yourself to get them into your Camera Roll.

From Keynote:

  1. With your presentation open in Keynote, click FILE on the menu bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Choose EXPORT from the drop-down, then IMAGES.

Just keep in mind that the edges of the image have to allow for 50 pixels' worth of space for the parallax transition that takes place when you switch slides.
